Eye candy, excellent detail of jewelry, makes a great coffee table. It offers a good history of the items, and bits about the people who designed and made them. A fun book to peruse and learn a little something about vintage jewelry
This is a well illustrated book full of inspiring designs. If you are a jewelry designer, this book will be a constant source of inspiration to stir your imaginative juices. This is not a book for costume jewelry collectors, there are plenty enough other books for that. This is one that will be a reference to further fuel your creativity. The illustrations are beautiful photographed and laid out. Each section discusses a little about their history, just enough without going into too much detail that you get bored.
Beautiful photography, nicely printed and laid out and from what I could see it was historically accurate. I liked how the author used true vintage photos from fashion magazines, etc.It is by no means comprehensive but rather an introduction to vintage jewelry arranged by decade. If you want more detail you'd have to find a book that literally covered one decade or group of designers. As it is, it's very good with lots of eye candy.
