Use this book in teaching management still and every semester. Nice option to listen for a revised perspective.

Had to read for a management principles class- quick, easy read.

While the CD challenged the given scenarios recommendation. It gave no real training how to move forward when your client rejects your recommendations or method to analyze the gap. While it was convenient to listen to this in the car, content was below expectatio . Seller however was prompt with delivery and product was in great condition.

A quick book to read, that aids in the understanding of business gaps, and how to prevent them.

I don't know why I bought this book. It is not my usual type of book at all & t he cover is gruesome, but, i was hooked immediately the writer puts you right into her life! It is sometimes gruesome and sometimes heart breaking, but always gripping!I could almost see and smell what she was doing, not pleasant, but so insightful about a life I would not have had the nerve to live. Someone has to do it thought, and she dies it so well.

I am a Detective with a Sheriff's Department in a mid-west state. This year I had the pleasure of working with Dr. Craig on a 20 year old Jane Doe case. From day one, it was obvious that Dr. Craig was one of the tops in her field but it wasn't until I read her book that I realized just how amazing her career has been. The work she has done is nothing less than remarkable. Teasing Secrets from the Dead gave me a tremendous amount of insight in to my own case which was recently solved.

I am a retired RN and was a nurse for 38 years. In the course of my career, I have, on occasion, had to deal with wounds and diseases that would make a normal person nauseated or even faint. (This actually happened once when I demonstrated a wound dressing on a patient with gangrene to a group of student nurses.) I have even dealt with a type of wound debridement that actually uses live maggots.Even so, just in reading this book, I had to take it in small steps and it took me a week to finish it. At the same time, I was very appreciative of the detail in the writing. However, I'm not sure I would ever recommend this book to just anyone.

I like the way Emily shows how she deals with the remains of the dead: as a scientist and as a human being with feelings, showing respect for the dead. The book gives a unique view of two major disasters/crimes in American history: the mass murder of the branch Davidians in Waco, Texas in 1993 and the attack on the twin towers in 2001. Reading her personal and professional experiences as a forensic anthropologist at these crime scenes will leave you with lingering thoughts of the meaning of life and death.

This is an excellent book, telling what goes into being a forensic anthropologist and telling about her training and her work. I found her tales fascinating and only wish she had more to tell. The work is interesting and she tells of it well.

This book was highly readable and almost felt like i was taking a class on forensic investigations. I learned a ton and am amazed at the conclusions that can be drawn from the amount of hard work scientists like Emily have done.

Amazing accounts of what has gone on "behind the scenes" of several of the most recent mass tragedies in US history. Waco, Oklahoma City and the destruction of the Twin Towers. Dr. Craig also relates stories of her many years in training and as the forensic anthropologist for the state of Kentucky. Captivating and easy to read.

I have always found forensics fascinating but reading Emily Craig's book was an eye opener to the realities and tragedies of the job.Would recommend this book to anyone!

This was a incredibly frustrating book with too much extraneous information and one of the most annoying heroines I have ever encountered.Seven characters are introduced on the first page, like a literary tsunami of names. Still reeling from that, the reader is asked to swallow the multi-generational curse that has killed off most of the heroine's relatives. I can suspend belief with the best of them. Bring on the vampires or zombies in a well written novel. This curse was just tedious, especially when you realize that it has little to do with the present day tale.Fundamentally, this is the story of two damaged adults who had a two day relationship three years ago that left the heroine pregnant. Having her look at her son and seeing him use a 'palms up' gesture reminds the heroine of her fling. Since this is a universal gesture and she hardly knew the hero other than to have sex with him, the tenuous connections were odd.The hero, who was neither lost nor a groom until the epilogue (hardly a spoiler in a romance), is very likeable. He has a tragic past and a fascinating career. Why he was attracted to the heroine is difficult to comprehend. I began to feel he was the one who was cursed being saddled with this woman. Like many readers, I was frustrated by the huge concessions he made, while she didn't even want to add his name to the child's birth certificate. Ever her family and friends describe her as prickly and it seems to me they should have pushed her into therapy a decade ago. Out of all the careers in the world, the hero is assigned the same one as the heroine's father who abandoned her.... by dying! This becomes the reason she uses to push away this man, who has traveled the gobe to find her and his son.Sometimes a mediocre romance can be improved with some great bedroom scenes. Don't expect that here. "They met, hard and fast. He entered her, she took him in." Hmmph.The characters say it best.“That’s absurd. Like a tall tale...""That's the craziest thing I've ever heard.""That's ridiculous. All of it." I totally agree.The heroine's action at 85% of the book was a betrayal of both her son and his father. This was definitely the last straw for me.If you enjoy books with a life lesson where damaged people are treated with a deft hand and the passion smolders, I would suggest Anne Calhoun's Breath on Embers.

The positives; The writing style is good. Few typos (although I found 3 that I can think of)...That's it.The Negatives; I'm going to agree and disagree with some of the more negative reviews. I found Kendra irritating in the extreme but I also found Daniel just as selfish. He has unprotected sex with a stranger using a false name and then he just expects her to drop everything and fall into his arms. Honestly the only reason I read this was bc I wanted to see how the author dealt with this and tbh I'm a little disappointed in it. Kendra can't see past the fact that Daniel is in fact a pilot and that is something that she can't accept bc of the danger, but she has flown 'lots of times' so that whole thing doesn't make any sense to me. I couldn't believe that her family and friends just accepted that he was the father, looks don't always tell and what was to say that he finds out about the child and decides to play yet another role and then kidnap the child. As a mother that is what I would be thinking. That fact is that Kendra gave up her original career bc of the pregnancy so I think people are being a little unfair to her character bc I think daniel's character was just as unrealistic and unlikable. He is kind of the my way or the highway personality and lets face it, this type of scenario would take a lot longer than 3 or 4 weeks to resolve itself. I guess I am a little conflicted about it but I just didn't care for either of them. There was also not a lot of redeeming qualities in the secondary characters that supported Kendra's position until they didn't. As an aside, I would NEVER leave my 2 yr old with someone who didn't know anything about children, not to mention that he was still pretty much a stranger.

Kendra is researching a story in Santa Estella when a hurricane hits. She finds herself in shelter with the suave, heroic Paolo. Long story short, it is a life or death situation; emotions run high. They do the deed, survive the night, and Paolo disappears after letting Kendra to safety.Fast forward three years: Kendra has a new job, not what she was gunning for, but still seems happy. Lives back on the family ranch. And, oh yea, she has a kid from the fateful hurricane night.For three years she has been raising this kid on her own. And after numerous phone calls, contacts, anything she can do to find this Paolo, she finds he doesn't exist. Never did. But she is still lamenting over losing him, hopes he is ok, and wishes he knew his son(?!).Then one day, out of the blue, he arrives at her house, walking in to her life like the past three years never happened and makes demands on her like it is his right. And she never fights him on it. She gives in every time.So she is a strong independent woman who alone raised her son for three years and I am to believe that she would listen to anything that this neanderthal of a bully has to say.Never mind that he knew she was looking for him since one of his personas actually spoke to her when she was looking for him.And oh boo hoo. He has a sad backstory that naturally ended up with everything ok... except for not being able to emotionally attach to anyone.I could go on. But grow weary of the whole thing.Let's just say... I have not found many books that have my name as the main character; and I am a little disappointed this is one of them.

I was expecting a book dedicated entirely for dinosaurs, fortunately I was pleasantly surprised that the book covers every period of earth's life. It is not written in childish manner like many other dinosaur and past life books. I love the fact that almost every species portrayed in the book has picture of its fossils as well as a CGI/drawn pictures. It is a book that is worth every penny spent for it! If someone is looking to expand their knowledge in prehistoric life I would definitely recommend this book.

DK has certainly made a name for itself in producing a long line of visually stunning, reference books. Prehistoric Life is a good example of a genre that DK seemed to have invented. The visuals are perfect. DK has some secret printing method that allows its pictures to be excitedly fine textured and vivid. The writing which could be quite pedestrian is well done and done at a adult level. The material is very current and original. It presented material that was totally new to me: the prototaxites on pages 114-115 which look like an eerie spike that was over 26 feet tall and could be either a plant or a fungus. I also liked that DK didn't dwell on dinosaurs (although it has a lot of material about them) but also spent time on plants and invertebrates. At 512 pages it covers a lot of territory. And at the bargain basement price it carries, if you are going to get one book about ancient life, get this book. My only quibble is that the maps showing the distribution of the continents are needlessly simplified. However, that said, I am going to give this my highest recommendation.

After spending quite a bit of time researching which book to give a friend who already knows quite a bit about prehistoric life, I settled on this one. He told me he loves it; there's tons of detailed information he didn't know, and feels it's a great resource. Very happy with my purchase.

Prehistoric Life: The Definitive Visual History of Life on Earth This is a sumptuous and learned book. But it is also unreadable. It serves as a visually beautiful reference book, and a thick-volume to be thumbed through, read in parts, consulted, and used as a stimulus to the sense of wonder. “Prehistoric Life” consists of about 500 richly illustrated colored pages that include many explanatory units of boxed-in text. The book starts with the origin of the Earth, and has separate sections for each of the geological time periods, starting with the Archean, four billion years ago, and ending with the history of our species, Homo sapiens. Every page you open to is colorful and filled with images of fossils, plants, animals or artistic reproductions of life forms, and every page has scientific text amplifying each separate picture. The scope of this book and the level of knowledge that it contains is astounding and leaves the reader struck with both the artistry of book-making and the rigor of science that is involved with the creation of this text. There is no single author, and as is usual with DK Books, there are many authors, scientific consultants, editors, designers, illustrators, and photographers who had to cooperate to make this rich compendium. Unfortunately, as again is usually true with DK Books, the reader does not know which author or authority wrote the particular prose passage that one is reading. The acknowledgments alone take up three pages of four columns each. Partly because of the encyclopedic information that is discussed, and partly because of the use of text to accompany illustrations, rather than the creation of a continuous single author narrative, this book can be read only in a halting, jumping, discontinuous manner. “Prehistoric Life” contains many excellent features beyond its lush beauty and its factual depth. Every section of geologic history begins with its own map of the globe at that point in time, with a clear time chart, and with a discussion of how the continents and oceans were behaving in continental drift, and what the climate was like. Therefore the reader is not simply guided to pictures of plants and animals, but is constantly reminded of the interactions between geology, climatology, and the evolution of plants and animals. The overall impact of this book is thrilling. It puts the individual reader’s life into the perspective of our planet’s life. It makes us grateful for the accumulation of scientific knowledge, the vast majority of which is less than 200 years old. Both the topic and the minds that clarified it are radiant additions to one’s sense of who one is and how human life has come to be. The information content seems up to date and impeccable. In a book that covers almost everything, 500 glossy pages is not too long, so obviously there is an arbitrary selection of what is included and what is short changed. For example, the stunningly beautiful forty pages on human evolution show the photographs of the exact skulls that have been used to define the earlier species of humankind. Many books discuss the issue of human evolution but few illustrate it with such high color photography. On the other hand, you may find that your favorite dinosaur, or your favorite Pleistocene megafauna has not been included even though there was space enough for the editors to give many pages to something as obscure as carboniferous invertebrates. Pouring over this book has been a delightful, sobering, incomprehensible, and exhilarating experience for me. It is the perfect complement to a book on the sense of wonder.Reviewed by Paul R. I'm a big fan of visual presentations of information and over the past few years have purchased all of the major biology, wildlife, and evolution books that appealed to me. This one stands head and shoulders over them all. It is comprehensive, colorful, well-organized, entertaining, and informative. No, not just informative--that makes it sound like a government pamphlet. It is thrilling. Life on earth has been so varied, so fantastical and stunning, that who would have thought that any book could adaquately capture it? But "Preshistoric Life" manages to. So good are the organism reconstructions that my girlfriend asked me how they could "get photos of those animals if they're extinct?" And she's the smartest person I know, so if she was fooled by their verisimilitude, you can believe the quality was exceptionally high. And at the risk of sounding like a carnival barker, this book is fun for all ages. I can't imagine a kid not becoming rapt by the astounding dinosaurs and other early animals, but it's also sophisticated enough to act as a reference tool for adults. Best in class; highly recommended.

Beyond Awesome. Haven't even gotten all the way through book, taking it slow. Unbelievable amount of information presented in an easy to assimilate way with graphs, illustrations and concise descriptions. Will add more to review when I have gone through it all. Encompasses so much more than I could have imagined!

The kids (9, 10) can't get enough of sitting down to these beautifully illustrated and well documented pages about the various periods. I only regret the very small size of the fonts that makes reading difficult. But the book is so good I'm thinking of buying another so that each kid gets one ultimately. It IS that well done.

I love museums and learning about the history of Earth and life on it- this book is captivating and visual. I feel like I am walking through an amazing museum without the walking part. This book is BIG and is going to take a long time to get through all of it but I am enjoying every page of it.
