After working with health care professionals since 2003 helping them migrate into the 21st century, I am really excited about the technology tools patients and caregivers now have available to them. During the last decade, I learned the heart of family caregivers waiting in the medical practice to be noticed, or given something to do to help. Caregivers are such an untapped resource in the medical profession. When I was a caregiver many times over, I was able to reach a few nurses and doctors and let them know what caregivers needed. When I was caring for my Mom more than 1500 miles away, I used many of these tools to help intervene when she needed blood transfusions or when she needed food delivered to her home, or when she couldn't find anyone to shovel the snow from her front yard. This is my 20-something book, and it was one of the most exciting ones to work on because I could tell my stories and show you, the reader about simple technologies, tools and credible websites that will  help make your life easier. I hope you'll check us out at caregivers-toolbox.com when you want to download tables that are in the printed book. Warmest blessings, Carolyn Hartley

As an attorney, I am commonly faced with assisting clients who are dealing with aged family members. The Caregiver's Toolbox is a must-have for those with aged or ill family members. Making decisions about someone whose health is waning is stressful and, to a large degree, depressing, not only for the person who is suffering but for those around them. This resource brings some measure of peace to a difficult situation. While the book alone is a wonderful quick-reference guide for "what do I do" and "how do I do it", it is also an encouragement to those who are dealing with these sorts of difficulties. The stories and the testimonials for others who have already walked the path creates a footprint, if you will, for others to follow. I will definitely recommend this powerful resource to my clients and family members.
The Caregiver's Toolbox comes from the heart and blends a wealth of well researched mobile applications, spreadsheets and tools built from experience to help a friend or family member challenged with caring for a loved one. Although I co-authored the book with Peter Wong, I purchased the Kindle version to verify embedded links and tools. One thing I wish our publisher would have told you is that the tools are available for free at caregivers-toolbox.com to readers who provide a code embedded in the book. I wish we could get that message out, but this may help. Warmest wishes to all readers who are helping others navigate the health system while also taking care of a loved one.
I am blown away by the thoroughness of this book as it provides the reader with information that can help prepare us for the inevitable. The authors' compassion for caregivers is evident in the way they thoughtfully and compassionately explored the experience of providing care for a love one. You can tell their life experiences had profound impact on the way they developed and outlined the use of the checklists, forms and technologies in organizing medical records, legal records, financial records, etc. I am recommending this book to my friends, church members and associates. There is no doubt a book like this was need to help us understand, navigate and survive the ever changing world of health care and end of life planning.God bless the authors.
Having recently been thru a caregiver situation with my father, I can only wish that I had had a resource like "The Caregiver's Toolbox" to guide me thru the decisions trees that were present at each step of his care. What I found as we progressed thru hospital care, treatment, and finally hospice care, is that many of the details and processes were accomplished as necessary instead of following a logical process. If nothing else, this book provides a very methodical process for every aspect facing an individual that has not been trained as a caregiver as they take care of their loved ones. Thank you for such a great resource for such an all-consuming topic most of us will face at some point in our lives!

I was really impressed when I opened the Caregiver's Toolbox. The authors seem to have nailed it, providing practical advice, approaches and tools for a part of life that is sneaking up on so many. Becoming a caregiver today is so probable for so many, and I observe that folks suddenly become caregivers due to quickly changing circumstances of loved ones, yet they struggle with all of stresses that this injects into their families as they don't have a roadmap for how to successfully address the situation. This Toolbox provides a working compass. I could imagine employers, civic organizations and other entities providing this as a perk for their constituents, given the trend in the pervasiveness of this issue.
I purchased this book for a friend whose mother was recently diagnosed with breast cancer. Being the primary caregiver for a parent can be challenging and I feel certain this book will help my friend during these difficult times. I had the opportunity to meet one of the authors, Mr. Peter Wong. From our brief encounter. I could tell that Mr. Wong is kind-hearted man that is very passionate about his work. Because of his personal experiences in life, if was evident he sincerely cares about the subject matter of having to care for a loved one.
