Cinderella is an old story most of us grew up with and loved. Some of us older folks might still have a copy of it in our bookshelves, saving it for grandchildren to come. However, this new edition of this ancient tale comes to glory by the exquisite illustrations by Kveta Pacovska, an artist I have been following around as groupies do with rock bands. Absolutely brilliantly done. The adapted text by Charles Perrault is wonderful topping it off on the last page with two poems about morals. This book will shine in any book shelf.

Perfect for use in classroom with fairy tale unit and comparisons.

The book arrived in good time and was in great condition. I will be using this for a Fairy Tale Unit in my classroom.

I chose this book for my granddaughter based on other reviews because it was said to be a translation of the original story that was written by a French author. The illustrations are excellent except for one thing - Cinderella does not look "one thousand times more beautiful" than her ugly stepsisters in the illustrations. Might this teach a young girl that beauty may lie in what one wears? Although the story contained a few words (such as "wicked") I had to explain to my four year old granddaughter, she told me she liked it.

I love Cinderella stories and each year it seems my students share the love. They get a kick out of the many different versions available now. This one is the classic of classics.

Not worth the printed pages as very little was useful. Internet offers same information. Needed for desk but don't recommend purchasing as expensive for the small amount of content. Nurses should not be required to purchase and make publishers rich, sad but this is big business I don't endorese.

Did I really pay $20 for this??? It’s maybe twenty pages long, flimsy, basically a brochure or pamphlet. This was required for my grad school class, but I feel so robbed! What a waste of money for such a tiny thing!

I purchased this book in preparation for taking the CNE exam. Please save your money. It's like a little brochure rather than a book! All information contained within this book can be found on the NLN's website for free.

This book is simple to read and rich in content. The author did a fantastic job at painting a worldview for me, a westerner, to understand the Hindu faith in a way that I would not have if I had simply picked up a copy of the Bhagavad Gita translated into English. He breaks down ideas that may seem strange to westerners with Judeo-Christian perspectives, like Brahman or inherent human divinity, and builds a worldview for people who are on the outside of Hindu culture. I admire his work and have read many different parts three or four times, because each time something else stands out to me in a different way. It has truly changed my life.

I had little to no knowledge about the religion of Hinduism prior to reading this book. Now I think I have a good grasp on the subject. The books lives up to the praise that the blurbs on the back of book . I suspect Hinduism has many more dimensions , more depth than I had originally expected for it. I know this sounds like crass chauvinism but I often wondered how a country so old as India had so much suffering and poverty . But I have began to realize that the history of India has it's roots in a deep spiritual tradition that is amazing in it's ability to see things in totally different fashion from we in the West see things. Now I don't plan on converting anytime soon, trust me, but I see Hinduism with much less of a cynical eye now. Good book to begin with , but I suspect that the religion of Hinduism has more lessons, more layers than meets our jaded Western eyes . If you want to be able to organize some good ways of framing an inquiry into this religion I would say this book is the best place to start.

This author provides an essential outline of Hindu culture and religious practice. The explanation of karma, reincarnation and other esoteric aspects of the East are well developed and presented. A very enlightening read.

Well written summary of major points of the world's oldest religion. Sufficiently comprehensive without being overly pedantic or evangelistic.

This is a very good introduction to Hinduism written by a Hindu scholar and spiritual guide. It isn't too complicated for beginners but at the same time provides enough details for the intermediate reader.

This is the book that I bought when I began to be fascinated with Indian culture in general. This is also the first book I ever read on Hinduism, and to be perfectly honest, it's not very hard to understand. The information is precise, the narrative flow is never complex, and the visuals are lovely to look at. And although there are a few words here that need to be looked up in the dictionary, "The Essentials of Hinduism" is still a fantastic read. Highly recommended for those who are interested in the world's oldest religion, or in Indian culture in general.

Provides a basic overview with a lot of attention to history and culture, rather than the religion itself.

Great book! Really shows how Arsene Wenger turned the Gunners into a modern, world class organization and the achieved the impossible. The book is full of interviews and insights from the players and coaches who made it happen. Makes me wish I could go back in time to see the Arsenal play at Highbury.

I came to Soccer/Football late, through marrying a fan. My second year of learning the game was 2003/4. Wow.Will there ever be another invincible season? Perhaps. But mega money changes the dynamics. These Invincibles were/are about so much more. And Wenger...no one like him.

As a hardcore Arsenal fan who barely missed the invincibles season (started watching Arsenal matches in early 2006), this book has given me the sense and experience of having been with the fans during that period, at Highbury. A must-read for any Arsenal fan whether you have been watching during that period or not. Nostalgic.

Fantastic book. It was great to re-live that season through the eyes of the players and manager. All woven seamlessly on the page by Mrs Lawrence. It's also a reminder of why I don't want this ride with Wenger to end yet. He and these players gave us fans something we'll never forget. It's well worth the barren spell to have one season like that.

This is everything a book should be. It's a historical, narrative case study about the politics of colonialization in Puerto Rico. However, it reveals deeper truths about the U.S.'s politics of reproduction as a weapon. There is no sense coming out of this book other than how f'ed it was. Both sides and all sides who dealt in Puerto Rican politics; whether they be nationalists, feminists, liberal or paternal, were so wrong and self serving. Morality served as a weapon, liberation a guise and nationalism a power grab; Briggs does an excellent job pointing out the complexity of oppression and how even liberal rheotric serves its role. This case study of Puerto Rican colonization through womans reproduction speaks to the depths of oppression by the U.S. It was complex, it's not light reading but if you want deeper understanding of the nature of oppression and politics than it is so worth it.

Title says it all. Must read book! Very helpful in understanding this specific topic. I would recommend it to anyone.

This is one of those weaving books that you actually want to read and not just look for projects in. I have only read most of the twill section and I have already made this purchase worth it. Stuff you really maybe just gleaned from where you learned to weave but now it is fully explained. I have learned more from this book already than 4 years weaving and I went to a University for weaving..really. I am so happy I got this book.

I gave this 5 stars because the book is great - even though I don't understand much of what is says. It's a beautifully written book - great pictures - the whole shebang. I read the reviews. Some said it wasn't for beginners. Others said it was for beginners. Take it from me, this book IS NOT FOR BEGINNERS. If you have a background in weaving, buy the book. If you're wanting to learn how to weave, this is not for you.

Just got this book,so haven't woven anything relevant from it yet-- I'm involved with another project right now--- but the instructions seem very clear and much more detailed info than is usually given in weaving projects. Diagrams are very easy to read, pictures are clear and show what the weave really is supposed to look like. I look forward to sampling soon!

This is exactly the book I needed. I have been an intermediate weaver for a very long time. This book gives me the information I need to go more deeply into the structure of weaving so that I can strike out on my own instead of just following drafts. It is well laid out and each section builds on the last one, and is presented in easily followed but not dumbed down steps. The section on twills was the information I had tried to find in other books, some written by well know teaching weavers, but the information presented had left too many questions for me. Now they are answered. It fills a niche between beginning weaving books, a well populated category and books about more advanced techniques. Very accessible. Thank you Pattie.

I have been weaving about 4 years. I found this book to be a good review that included many tips I had missed. This will be a go to refresher for various techniques when I need to brush up. Contains some nice projects as well.

Loved this book. I am now moving to the next level with my weaving. I really love the flow of the book, skill building as you go and, I especially like the fact that she kept the 4 harness loom front and center throughout all the patterns.

I like this book, so glad it's in my weaving library. Have been weaving over 20 years and I learn new things as I experiment. The book provides many opportunities with clear diagrams and written instructions. Photos are beautiful. The author encourages readers to use her projects as a starting point in designing their own and offers a few suggestions to do so.
