My three-and-a-half year old son LOVES Thomas and Friends and we like to read a couple stories before bedtime every night. We love the Little Golden Books because they are the perfect length and we can typically read at least two of them before bed, if not more. My son didn't have this book and he also enjoys watching Dinosaur Train so I figured this story would be a good one to add to our collection.Thomas and the Dinosaur is the story of Percy coming into the shed claiming there is a monster in the forest. Thomas doesn't know what a monster is and he's scared to go into the forest but he has jobs to do. As he is on his way to work, he encounters the monster, which is actually just a model of a dinosaur that is being used for Sodor's new dinosaur park. After Thomas learns what dinosaurs are, he is pretty proud to help pull the dinosaur to the park.Like all LGB, this book measures 6 1/2 inches by 8 inches, has hard covers, paperback pages, and a gold spine. This story is 24 pages long, has colorful illustrations and at least a couple sentences on each page, or set of pages. It fits in perfectly with the rest of our LGB collection and is a good story for us to read. It takes us about five minutes to read, or 10 if we talk about the story. I love the length of these stories because then we can read a couple before bedtime.Overall, we like this book and read it occasionally but we have so many LGB that we don't read it too often. I love how the Thomas and Friends books teach lessons in many of their stories and this one teaches kids that being helpful is something to be proud of. The product description states that boys will enjoy the book but I don't see why girls can't read it because my three-and-a-half year old daughter (I have twins) likes to listen to the story as well. This story is nice for toddlers and will be good to have as my kids get older and learn to read. If you have a Thomas fan who also likes dinosaurs, this is a good book to buy. There isn't a lot to this story but my kids still enjoy it and it teaches a lesson, so it was worth it for us to purchase it.

My 2.5 year old is now terrified of dinosaurs after the first half of the book is Percy whomping up scary feelings discussing dinosaurs. My daughter now asks every night at bedtime, "Are there going to be animals? ... Are they going to eat me?" I suppose we should have waited longer to read the book to her, but the fear Percy felt could certainly have been written more tactfully for the young audience.

Got this for my 3 year old grand son whose favorite playthings at this age are...yes, you guessed it...trains and dinosaurs. What could be better than one book with both of them in it? It is educational with a positive message and he has me read it to him every time I come over. This makes for one happy grandpa.

I haven't read this book, bought it for my nephew. However. It arrived in very bad condition. A new book was ordered and it arrived looking like it had gone through some very hard times. The spine was cracked and you can see the pages through the spine because there are holes! The book is all scuffed up. Hopefully the story itself makes a hit with the recipient because as it stands I am not happy. The only reason it's getting 2 stars right now is benefit of the doubt on the supposition my nephew will like it as a Thomas fan. Otherwise it would get 1 star.

Very cute book! My son loves Thomas and dinosaurs and this is the perfect combo! wW bought this to add to his book shelf but it rarely gets put down. The story is simple, Thomas hears there is a "monster" in the woods and finds out it's a dino statue he needs to transport to a new dinosaur amusement park. He overcomes his fear of the "monster" and gets the statue to the park successfully. Cute story about over coming your fears!

Thomas the train & dinosaurs... perfect combo for a toddler! Good thing they don't care about writing skills or story lines though because it's not very well written & I'm not a fan of the fact that it involves only one fake dinosaur. But it's not about me & what I like, it's about the little boy I bought it for & he absolutely loves it! Even his little sister likes to roar along while we're reading it.

Really cute storyline and if you have a kid that likes both dinosaurs and trains, well then, this is a winner! Little Golden Book has not lost their touch, I just love being able to hare my love of reading with my kid. Note, these have paper pages and are not suited for toddlers alone. They are best if you read to the toddler, they can be easily torn apart.

My nephew's two favorite things right now, in the same book: Thomas and dinosaurs! My nephew is going through a train, specifically Thomas, and dinosaurs phase. I was surprised to see this book this book exists and had to get it for him. He's not reading yet, but likes to look at the pictures. This was a great buy and a good way to get him into books and reading.

This book adds four new cities -- Chicago circa 1927, "Shan Fran" (Deadlands' San Fransisco) circa 1939, Lost Angels (Deadlands' Los Angeles) circa1946, and City of Gloom (Deadlands' Salt Lake City) circa 1950 -- each with their own map, setting details, Savage Tales, Plot Point campaign, and unique monsters and NPCs all laid out for you.For players, there are also two new Arcane Backgrounds (for blessed and sykers) as well as an Edge that greatly expands on the options available to martial artists. To be fair, however, blessed and sykers are scaled down versions of their previous selves from other versions of Deadlands (which is necessary for that Noir feel) that have absolutely no unique Edges to round them out with the Arcane Backgrounds in the core book (which is merely to save space and get both backgrounds to fit on one page). Also, the Kung Fu Edge for martial artists is reprinted straight out of Deadlands: Hell on Earth. These aren't bad customization options by any means, however don't expect much in the way of new material for players.This book is for GMs, through and through. Even if you plan on running your Noir game in New Orleans, there are plenty of monsters, NPCs, and even Savage Tales you can swap from this book. How did the realities of Deadlands affect the rise of organized crime in the wake of Prohibition? What is in the world has Darius Hellstrome been up to since he revealed that his brain survived inside of a robot body in 1917 (something only briefly touched upon in Deadlands: Hell on Earth)? All of these general setting questions are answered and presented along with a map of the U.S. and C.S. territories.Overall, if you plan on getting Deadlands Noir, pick this up as well. You won't regret it.

Great setting.

A really excellent source book for Savage game systems, specifically Deadlands. It is a companion book to the Noir edition, and helps round out the game world. If you are looking to progress your game out of the old wets and into the great depression, this book will really help.

I have over the years collected every deadlands book published, even the collector leather bound ones. However everything in this book is garbage, barely any of the soul of deadlands is left at this point. Honestly if you want the theme of it just push people into the 20's and change some of the weapon stats, all this feels like is a cheap cash in on the lovecraft style of games. That can be done without the need of this book and without removing the bulk of deadlands flavor from it.

This textbook is a piece of junk.I am nine chapters into it for my Intercultural Communications class, and I can honestly say it is the worst textbook ever foisted upon me.The worst offenses are actually in the bank of test questions provided to instructors. About 5-10% of questions on every test are very problematic in their wording and logic, and some of them refer to topics not actually covered in the text. I have presented these problems to my instructor, and she is in full agreement that many of the test questions are terrible. If you are an instructor considering this textbook, you should definitely write your own test questions.The text itself is also poorly written and edited. The most glaring problems are in the logic and organization of the ideas and arguments. Often, one paragraph does not follow logically from the previous. The authors frequently veer off topic and do not stick to their argument's organizational structure established at the beginning of each section. They violate basic principles of clear writing that I learned in English 100.If I had the time, I would go on about how the authors frequently present debatable observations and perspectives as simple facts, missing the opportunity to engage readers in interesting issues with multiple viewpoints, that there is an unacceptable rate of grammatical errors, that it is redundant and boring, but I have already wasted enough of my life dealing with the atrocity that is "Experiencing Intercultural Communication".

I gave the book 3 stars because I have not fully read it yet, however, this review is for the rental on Kindle. This book was the only book that I have ever had on here that has consistently given me trouble. It will not open half the time and when it does it will take 30mins to do so while any other book rented or not will instantly load up. So far I have uninstalled kindle twice and reloaded it and have cancelled to book by deleting it and rented it again to see if it will load properly.

The books has a lot of contradictions and doesn't give a lot of information when it's needed. Not the best text book a class has used.

Though to read is not to comprehend, the bit of light that trickles through is a keen pleasure. Habit being a daunting foe as well as a mightily generous friend, I am slowly but surely clambering onto a seat whence I can read physics and poetry with near equal bewilderment and illiteracy and innumeracy. It helps to love staring at text--even in letters or ideograms that look like bad jokes.ISH is not only easier and clearer than Paradise Lost or the Iliad, it covers larger ground in a tenth the length of either. The book has nailed in place for me all the primary images from Sig. Galileo to Hawking. Git the book, read it, and you'll experience a similar gratitude to the one I have toward McEvoy & Zarate. And, Hurray for Great Britania for her obsession with Introducing... (I ain't no Brit either. Not by a long shot)

Not only did I find this book very interesting but I learned more about black holes than I knew before. It is relatively easy to understand (the illustrations are helpful) and no mathematics. Good for anyone interested in cosmology and Hawking.

I like this book because it remind me of a comic book. It was really interesting to read and I am not a science person at all.

This book has a comic book feel to it which makes it enjoyable, easy to follow, and hard to put down. This book is perfect for visual learners and makes it easy to relate to. Definitely recommend this book for class or just to expand ones own knowledge, its really a great book!!!

I read this book as a science work, not as a promotional biography.As popular writings of modern physics go this is a rather good account of modern cosmology. The author has a physics background thus making the science fairly honest. The writing is linear with ample asides to bring the reader up to speed on important concepts. The brevity of the writing bespeaks compatification, not loss.The problem is that Hawking wants to win the Nobel Prize something fierce. The author is out to lend his support to a fellow Britisher by publishing this unabashed Nobel promo (the closing pages give a summation of why Hawking should win the big one). As far as the cartoony format goes the caricatures seem to be directed at those physicists and religious figures (generally dead) the author wants to relegate to supporting roles to the great one. If you can get around these prejudices you will find a good read.

I was a bit reluctant to like this book when I first read it because of its abundance of cartoons that appeared to be quite cheaply drawn. It also belonged to part of a larger series of 'Introducing' books and I'm always reluctant to like those because they always seem to be directed towards making a profit rather than providing good information.Contrary to my first impressions, the book was actually fairly good and informative. It covers a good part of Stephen Hawking's life as well as some background in fundamentals of physics so you can grasp some of his ideas. Although soem cartoons are completely gratuitous others actually provide extra clarification on the ideas expressed.The book gives a very broad overview over Stephen Hawking's ideas. Specifically his theories concerning black hole radiation. Some stuff was a bit hard for me to grasp (atleast to understand all the little details was near impossible) but the book illustrates the general ideas very well :)

I liked learning about hawking but disliked spending too much time and detail on physicsI am more about bios and history than technology

Easy to understand, quick introduction to Hawking and cosmology. I've never understood the discoveries of Einstein et al as clearly. Leaves the mind to wander, but also moves at a nice pace.

It did not contain the depth of insight I was hoping for, though it is still a good read and does contain some things following the thought of Thomas Aquinas. Still, I was looking for more. It made one error. The author said that Christ's Presence in the Eucharist was not physical. That is an error. Christ's Presence is Physical, as Paul VI says in Mysterium Fidei, though it is a glorified physicality, not an earthly physicality. .

A brilliant explanation of both the "real presence" of Christ in the Eucharist as articulated by St. Thomas Aquinas and the deeper meaning of what the understanding of a "Sacrament" brings to the Catholic belief of the seven sacraments and their efficacy in everyday lives.

What I have read so far is excellent.

This book was recommended to me several decades ago, and on more than a few other occasions, by a good and highly-respected friend. He had also given me my own copy to read. It basically sat in its place in my library for all that time. Shortly after his death, I came face to face with the book on Amazon.com. Now back in print as a paperback, it was being offered to me as a "recommended" item. Impressive! The preface was written by Peter Kreeft and the Introduction by Aidan Nichols, O.P. There was also a review by Avery Cardinal Dulles, S.J. that indicated "This book should never be out of print." I began to seriously wonder, "What have I missed?" I bought the paperback edition with the intention of finally following through on my friend's advice.This did not begin as the easy read I thought it should be. It is a book that has to be worked through. It is based on the teachings of Saint Thomas Aquinas, and though I have had a solid foundation in his work over the years, Vonier did not seem to allow for any shortcuts. You had to do the work!Vonier also drew much from the resultant teaching of the Council of Trent, steeped as well in Thomas' thought. While I also believed I had had a satisfactory understanding of Sacramental Theology, I suppose I was a bit unprepared for Vonier's insights. I am glad, however, that I was receptive to them.If there was "only one thing" I could be grateful to the Abbot for, and I know it sounds trivial because we think we understand, it would be a new appreciation and perception of what "Sacraments" are! Vonier claimed it was necessary for him to dispel the notion that the Eucharistic sacrifice could be explained in terms other than from sacramental theology. A case he described considered the first Mass, in the Upper Room, as a sort of first-phase of the actual Sacrifice of Christ that would occur the next day, instead of its true nature: the sacramental presentation of that Sacrifice, as if the latter, in some way, could be dependent on the former. Subtle as it may seem, he strove to show how this drifted far from that taught by Saint Thomas Aquinas, that the Eucharist, the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass, is the sacrament of the Sacrifice of Christ. It is not different from the Sacrifice of Calvary because it is a sacrament. It is "the Sacrifice;" but it is the sacramental presentation of the Sacrifice of Calvary. It is identical to the Last Supper too because in the Mass, Christ is the Victim, and because of the Sacrament of Holy Orders, Christ is also and always the Priest.Abbot Vonier shows how each of the sacraments is a presentation of the Sacrifice of Calvary. Of the other sacraments, he shows this most clearly with Baptism.Hard as it is to work through many of the details presented, books like this deserve our attention if for nothing else but to get our theology straight! Otherwise, how easy it is, even unknowingly, to pass on false notions.I also came to understand Abbot Vonier's intention, as stated in Amazon's Product Description, that this book was "written to give lay Catholics a better understanding of the Eucharist." Once you get into it you realize that lay Catholics, at that time he wrote this, were better educated in philosophy and theology and better equipped to handle such a book.Read it! Even if you have to wrestle with it!

Can't put into words what this book has done for me. I have clearly never comprehended the Eucharist and am a cradle Catholic. St Thomas Aquinas has so brilliantly/skillfully educated generations on the gift of the Holy Eucharist with his writings and Dom Anscar Vonier has passionately translated and meticulously deciphered it for Catholics and anyone who wishes to meet Christ the Redeemer in this beautiful gift He has provided for all generations.Would recommend this highly to anyone who wishes to deepen their faith and comprehend the complexity of the Eucharist. This was written in the 1920s so it's thought provoking. Not a quick read. I have spent weeks studying each sentence because of the depth of thought and so as to retain the information. Have given it to others and they are also amazed.

At first I thought the book was a little too tacky and forced kind of like a lifetime made for tv movie. A guy always wanted to be something since he was a boy, had early childhood tragedy, eventually married, became successful, and had the perfect family (1 boy, 1 girl, and a caring wife who was a homemaker), and everything he could want (materially), but has an intervention and realizes he's forgotten what is important in life.However, once you meet the inspiring characters and read their messages the book does get much better. Many good takeaways. I highly recommend to those who are just starting out their career and need motivation or those lacking direction.

There are 1000 better titles on the subject of success This book is filled with boring stories and very little information.

I've read Ben Newman's other books and can say that he has really come into his own with this book. Marrying a fable with these modern day motivating lessons is the inspirational sweet spot he's been after!
