Love this book & illustrations! Typical of DK. Great way to show kids how & what the bury. Am war was. Good way for Oapa & grandchild to bond. These books are always top contenders. Great gift for very inquisitive & intelligent children. Bought for child age 10.

Having spent 2 years in Vietnam,67-68,I enjoyed the information that you canget from this book,in an easy to read format.Photos are wonderful,and Ithink any veteran or a person who went through that era,would get somethingfrom this book,I have many DK books and think they are well thought out......

I can say it was a good book, part of a series of books I know. Shown some cool pictures especially in this part of the series. The Vietnam conflict was a frightening experience for America and much of the world who fought it in general and we still feel this conflict even to this day. I can recommend this to any educator or any person looking into history even military.

Growing up in the 60s and 70s, I was very aware of the Vietnam War. I was not old enough to be a warrior or a peace activitst. However, I watched and read a lot about the war. Even at a young age, I knew enough to get information from different points of view.In the first decade of the new century, few children and teenagers have much understanding of the lessons of the Vietnam War. This is a serious lack. To be informed citizens, we need to understand our own history. But how do you explain such a complex war to a 10 year old?I gave this book to my 10 year old son in anticipation of a trip to Vietnam. He enjoyed it and was able to be quite articulate in discussing a number of things about the war.DK does a good job of making history relevant by using a visual presentation. It would have been much more difficult to get a child or young adolescent to read a print-only book about a "parents' generation" war. Each page has several color photographs and then uses these to explain the history of the war. This particular book makes an effort to be even handed by presenting information about the American troops, the protesters, and the various Vietnamese factions. It shows the weapons used by both sides. There is a discussion of Agent Orange and Napalm. The medical sections shows how both the Americans and the Vietcomg treated their wounded. The section on "The Television War" helps explain how television shaped the American reaction to the war.At the end of the book there is a helpful glossary of terms. There is also a "Find Out More" section that lists useful websites and has a list of museums and memorials to visit in the US.I would recommend supplementing the book by encouraging the child or adolescent to talk to adults who served in Vietnam, or protested the war. Following these discussions, one might ask the child to consider the similarities and differences to the current war in Iraq.

The book had some interesting facts but had too many pictures. The writing was choppy in style. I grew up during that war and the book didn't seem to catch the essence of that time.

Great book for middle school kids! Photos are very good, not graphic. They make excellent talking points with kids.

I went to Barnes And Noble to find a book on the Vietnam War. They had nothing. Not one book. I was desperate. What would I do? Ed Robinson's Trawler Trash series is wonderful. Quirky characters and lots of introspection. I've read the first 3 so far and am addicted. The main characters "flesh out" through the series (so far) and I'm really looking forward to reading the continuing saga of Breeze.The plots are involved and intertwined with the character development. Each series builds on the previous one and each one can stand alone on its own merits. However, for a reader like me there's nothing like beginning at the beginning and reading through an entire series.A Florida / Caribbean adventure with all sorts of interesting and entertaining twists and turns.You won't be disappointed!!

This is my third book with Breeze and as one of the characters in the book says, "your not Travis McGee." That said Robinson is a very good read. His geography is a little off, if you stayed three days at the Stingaree Marina you wouldn't Go back to Port Arthur to get to Galveston , you are already two thirds of the way there in the Inter Coastal waterway. You can see Galveston Bay from the deck of the restaurant. Does point out how hard it is to research waterway geography for books. It's good to see that Breeze is legit now and out of trouble hope he can stay that way and I will enjoy reading about his exploits.

I feel like I have been hooked some cheap dime store novels but realize I put down a best selling mystery to read the 3rd book of Trawler Trash and found it was better written, more enjoyable, and hard to put down. You got to have some pirate spirit in ya to really like these books (don't we all) but I am now eagerly awaiting the next installment. Thanks Ed, keep up the great work.

I am hooked to read the entire series. Love that the author is correct in his location of cities and towns in West Coast Florida and the Bahamas as well as the other islands and South America cities. If your Geography isn't great around these areas look them up as you read,,,you'll learn a lot. Adventures are never ending and all vary which keeps your interest. Super reading

As good as the first two books of this series were, Author Robinson has even bettered himself. Breeze is a well developed character, a real boat bum which anyone can relate to - good with women - great at solving promlems. Enough suspense making it difficult to put the book down. I can highly recommend reading this series. I am looking forward to many future books in this series.

This book about Meade Breeze is one of the best tropical reads that I have found in years. I have also read the previous tltles leading up to "Free Breeze" and found them all very entertaining books. I would recommend this series to anyone who likes to read about tropical places and what happens when you live on a boat.

These books seem to get shorter and shorter, what gives???? So glad Breeze finished his legal problems, not so glad to hear about his coke runs. It is a real shame that drug running can get such good payoffs for illegal work and the 9-5 stiffs work long hours and are above board and get lousy money. Thanks, Amarillo Turtle

Used this as a textbook for school. Probably the instructors fault for picking a book that didn't enforce his lectures. Boring book.

I bought it because it is one of my text book. I was surprised to found out it actually interesting to read and I did enjoy it. It give many true stories about mistake and human errors happened in health care. It then breaks down and explains the cause and possible solutions. It also uses language that easy to read, even with people who have zero medical background. Good book.

Many of the stories are interesting, all have Bogner as contributors, ironically, her story at the beginning made for very difficult reading (for me)

Enjoyed reading the beginning of every chapter. Gave insight on how mishaps occur in healthcare.

This book shares about 6 different (real) clinical cases in which serious errors have left both patients and health-care providers victimized. For example, one case talks about a general surgical procedure that ends in a patient with a severe ureter, a 2nd-degree burn, a wound infection (due to lack of antibiotic administration), and $75,000 in recovery bills. It breaks down the fundamental aspects of human error in each case and supports each with discussion and research evidence. This would be a great read for pre-meds like myself who are interested in becoming more aware of the health care industry, for medical students and medical ethics courses/reading, and for health care practitioners. It isn't very lengthy but this author does write a book that was published in 1994 I believe with a similar theme which is longer.

I loved Kayla and Dane's story! Kayla was a famous singer who took time off from her career because her father was dying. She became reacquainted with Dane who had attended school with her. The book was one of renewing old acquaintances, allowing God to work on one's life, and finding one's true love! Highly recommend this book!

Kayla is in a bad place, spiritually fighting against God, at the beginning. However, when she gets bad news about her dad’s health, she runs home to be with him, where she meets Dane. She is drawn to his shop, looking for a gift, and finds herself fascinated with him and his pottery. This book drew me in and kept me reading, fascinated with the story; and by the end, I found myself sighing, “Ahhh!” I would recommend it for a good Christian romance story!

A story of second chances, both for the prodigal child, as well as the "boy next door." Kayla Mac is a superstar, a musician taking the world by storm. She is also a child of God, and of earthly parents who are none too fond of the lifestyle she is living, and the choices she has made. Kayla comes home from her music tour after receiving some disturbing news from her mom. Her dad, who has always been her champion, is happy to see her, but she's not certain about her mom's feelings about her visit. Kayla escapes from the house into the potter's studio of Dane, a hometown "boy next door" kind of guy she went to high school with, but doesn't really remember. Their resulting relationship has highs and lows, fits and starts. I kind of feel like Dane's character is a bit too easy going, and a bit too ready to accept Kayla into his life, flaws and all. I think a bit more tension and struggle in that relationship, particularly from Dane's perspective would truly make this a 5 star book. I definitely enjoyed the book, and would welcome a sequel to this story.

This is a great story about second chances. It was a good easy read with great Christian values and morals. I enjoyed the authors style of writing. Some people may call it preachy but we as true Christians should never get tired of scripture and the victory that we can have serving the Lord. The problem with our world today is that we don't hear enough scripture. I could personally relate to Kayla, heroine, as I also rebelled against my parents and their strict Christian values. My life was almost destroyed but a loving Savior was merciful enough to give me a second chance.

I absolutely loved The Homecoming! This was actually my second time reading the book and I found that I enjoyed it just as much this time. Juliette Duncan's heartwarming story reminded me of God's truth in so many ways. Kayla had strayed from God and His love, seeking happiness in the world by becoming a popular musical artist and even dating a married man. Upon receiving a call about her dad's declining health, she returned to her family and her small home town to be there for her father. Feeling completely out of place and most unworthy to even be in her parents' home, she had an unexpected reunion with Dane, who had harbored a crush on Kayla since he was a boy. She barely remembered him from school, but he vividly remembered her. Having strayed from the Gospel himself during his time in the Marines, Dane nearly lost his leg in a terrible fight that resulted from his ungodly lifestyle. Afterwards, God did a marvelous work in Dane's life and he was now living completely for Him and serving Him in every possible way. Dane used his talents as a potter to show Kayla, and the teen boys in his after school church group, how God can remove the impurities from each of us and make us stronger for HIm. It took her father's illness to bring her back home, but Kayla began to open her heart up to God's love once again, and eventually asked Jesus to save her and remove the impurities of her heart. She found a new love for God and also for Dane and her family and finally discovered that her true happiness was only found in Him. The Homecoming receives my highest recommendation.

Juliette Duncan has written an excellent story about God's willingness to forgive anyone who truly repents and receives his love. Since Dane is a potter there are many references to God as the Potter. The characters are well drawn. The story follows Kayla, her family's black sheep, who returns home (despite the censure she knows she will face) when she learns her beloved earthly father is very ill. Slowly she opens her heart. If you are looking for an excellenet Christian book, be sure you read the Homecoming.

A beautiful story of redemption. A lump of clay in the hands of the Master Potter becomes a magnificent vessel of honor. Kayla was a misguided woman who have herself to selfish desires and wasteful living trying to find joy and fulfillment. When her father's cancer takes her back home to her godly roots, she finally comes to understand her Heavenly Father's love. I can't say enough to tell how God's love is expressed in this book. Thank you, Juliette for this book of redemption.

Kayla and Dane’s story is truly amazing. Kayla has lived a life that her family and friends didn’t approve of. When her father gets sick her life will change. The way Dane helped her will have you on the edge of your seat waiting to see what happens next. The characters in this story are very special people. You will feel God working throughout this whole book. I had the honor to review this book for the author for a honest review. I would give this book a higher rating than a five star review if I could.

ExcellentThis is what book

...but as a sideline, I really hate the fact that I can't simply rate the product as great without typing in a bunch of unnecessary words in this area just to give positive feedback to the vendor. It makes me (and I would imagine, many other people) much more likely to simply ignore the request to leave feedback in the first place - to the detriment of the vendor.TO THE VENDOR: The product is exactly what I looked for and expected to receive, which to me is enough grounds for a 5-star rating. Working in mixed database environments is a very interesting challenge, both for DBAs and developers. If we already have experience with SQL Server, and need to work with Oracle, our SQL Server experience may be an advantage - we already have a good handle on what an RDBMS should do (backups, restores, etc.). On the other hand, our experience and common patterns with SQL Server may cause us to make mistakes on Oracle, because its internals and best practices are not the same.I have read a book named "Oracle Database Administration for Microsoft SQL Server DBAs", and I really liked it. The book's goal is to introduce Oracle to SQL Server data professionals, to explain similarities and differences between these two very common RDBMS. This book is filled with practical, real life information, necessary to perform daily activities of a production DBA. The book can really prevent us from missteps when we try to use Oracle as if it were SQL Server. It has the following chapters: * Oracle Internals - I was especially fascinated by the description of transaction process flow, which is different in Oracle * Oracle Installation, which also describes a few useful Linux commands, and connectivity * Database Definitions and Setup (databases and schemas have different meanings) * DBA Tools * Database Backup, Restore, and Recovery * Database Maintenance * Performance and Tuning * PL/SQL (which is VERY different from T-SQL) * High Availability ArchitectureOverall, this is a must-read book for any SQL Server professional intending to improve their Oracle skills.

This book merely regurgitates the freely available documentation from Oracle and MS SQL Server. However, this book is even worse since its space limitations means that the author is forced to be even more cryptic than the already difficult to understand product documentation. I could not find anything useful in this book - the book doesn't explain anything. Nothing at all. Aren't books like these supposed to simplify concepts for nonexperts or beginners? You think you will find a chart explaining orcl and sql svr concepts? No. Forget about this book.

Still as awesome as I thought.

I started reading God is in the Crowd by Tal Keinan on a flight from Miami to NY. The first sentence got to me with the same strength Gabriel Garcia Marquez's Love in the Time of Cholera did. " it was inevitable: the scent of bitter almonds always reminded him of the fate of unrequited love". I was hooked. Talk keinan's book had the same effect. " I awoke to the smell of ammonia. I was on my feet, but couldn't remember where." I was hooked. Never a flight seemed so short. The book, although I have not finished it because I am savoring not only the content but also the beautifully way it is written, has big promises, not only from the literature perspective, but for the proposal as well. I am spending this Saturday, Shabbat ritual as suggested, finishing it and looking so forward to doing so. Thank you Tal, for the insights it is giving us. It is truly a book to ponder about.

This book provides insightful and deep introspection into the author and the issues facing the Jewish nation and Jews of the world. He provides this from his personal experiences and diverse interactions thru out his interesting and well rounded life. I was able to learn much about the author and understand the basis from which he formulated his observations and desires for a better world and Jewish State.

I went back and forward between the audio and book versions. The audio version is narrated by Tal, and he does an excellent job.This book is a mix of an autobiography and a philosophical look at the meaning and outlook for secular Judaism.It really is excellent. His quest for his Jewish identity as a secularist and outlook for the future of Jewish people, peppered with his humble account of his rise and experience as an American born pilot in the Israeli Air force, makes this book a very thought provoking yet entertaining read. God is in the crowd is so well written, it keeps the reader engaged and wanting for more. He is unafraid to hold back on discussing topics that are often taboo, especially the juxtaposition of the religious and secular divide within Israeli culture and the impact that has had, and will have, on the future of the Jewish people.I highly recommend this book to anyone with an interest in and search for meaning and identity as a secular Jew. An excellent debut into the academic and literary world, and I look forward to his next book.

Loved his take on whole subject matter - found it extremely refreshing and definitely worth trying on for size!

Through a creative mechanism, Keinan intertwines his own spiritual journey to Judaism with the crux of his argument that the state of world Judaism is at a crossroads. Keinan’s personal story is unique and compelling. That—combined with well-written prose makes his book an easy read!

I've been sending this to many friends who want to stay abreast of the future of Jewish people in North America and in Israel.

Very realistic view of the Jewish People state, interesting ideas how to change this situation and reconnect with the young generation.

Good book that talks about Jews and judism from a different perspective. explores his life and then talks about future of Judism in US an Israel. Easy read.

Very good intro to Arduino for those who know a bit about music theory. Also a good intro to taking your Arduino projects a bit further by soldering and putting everything into boxes.

On both the macro and micro level, this book shows what’s possible and how to make music on an arduino. One more word required for a review? That’s a dumb rule. I’ve said plenty.

Bought this asite a gift for my boyfriend, he LOVE this book. He's a music producer and also an electrician, so it goes without saying, this was an excellent fit. This book has soooooooo much information and such a wide range of projects and tutorials to put together just about any equipment you'd need to run a studio.
