As a beginner, I felt this was the best book on the subject that I have purchased. The instructions were detailed but not verbose and the demonstrations were very easy to follow.I especially liked that the designs were not some mad max design that took four years of college and 42 hours to complete. You can both finish them and not keep them under glass after you have. Did I like every design? No, but I didn't expect to, this is the authors esthetic, not mine. However, most of the style elements could be easily swapped out if you you cared to.The only problem I had with the book was the hanging method of 'Whispering Bamboo'. A head pin could have been placed in the hole of the bead and a simple loop made to allievated the stress of hanging the piece from one of the cords. This has already altered the drape of the piece and will certainly affect the longevity.

Good instructions for a beginner. I haven't figured out some of the notations for bead sizes. Will probably only use a couple of patters out of this book - which seems to be the case with books like this. But overall I'm glad I bought this book.

The book was in excellent condition. Great patterns for micro-macrame.

Not as many interesting designs, but there are a few that I will probably try to make. A lot of it is pretty unexceptional.

I still remember where I was when the Abu Ghraib scandal broke. I remember thinking, "We just lost our last remaining claim to being the good guys." Elizabeth Grimm Arsenault's new book shows how a nation which had once been at the forefront of humane P.O.W. treatment lost its way. The shock of 9/11 convinced too many U.S. policy-makers that the struggle against terrorism required "rough methods." Not only did these methods break with long-standing American tradition and international norms--they were also worse than useless, as they inspired new waves of anti-American propaganda while providing little useful intelligence data.This deeply-researched book is not an "easy read," but it is highly recommended for students of international law, military justice, and policy-making. Dr. Arsenault's recommendations at the end provide a possible path forward. Future leaders (and our current president) would do well to heed these recommendations if the U.S. is to recover its reputation and make the American flag once again stand for (as Bruce Springsteen said) "who we are, and what we'll do, and what we won't."

I think about this book a lot, as we all read daily about the norms of our government and country being dismantled, bit by bit, tweet by tweet. This fascinating book shows how the norms against torture unraveled after 9/11. A really important read for everyone trying to understand how this could happen.

This White House says they want to kill all the family of terrorist too, women and children too, what kind of torture would they use if they could? This really frightens me.

An excellent book for anyone with an interest in the important and timely issues of detainee treatment and counter-terrorism policy. The author contributes a great deal to the recent scholarship of the GWOT by viewing U.S. detainee policy through a theoretical lens. Rather than focusing on what happened or why these things were done, the author presents a powerful argument about HOW the U.S. government came to adopt the policy and practices put in place during the GWOT. This informs the already rich legal, ethical, and strategic debate on these issues, while helping us to think critically about national security policy. What are the norms that shape individual, organization, and state behavior? Where do they come from and how do they change? What is the role of individual actors in shaping a system? The book remains highly readable while still challenging the reader. Very well researched, written, and argued. Highly recommended!

It is a truly beautiful and comprehensive book. It is thorough, clear and understandable. The graphics are perfect, too. The problem is that I bought this as a self study. There are lessons and assignments that you can follow along with. On the inside cover there are clear printed instructions. When I went to the listed website, first I had to make an account. I don't particularly appreciate being forced to give my personal information to a commercial site, but I could get over that part. I looked for those files for 2 hours, they were nowhere to be found. I contacted their customer support, you have to be enrolled in a class with an instructor and course number in order to access them. Customer service MIGHT give them to me, but they only work 8-2, so who knows.

Missing last two chapters please be sure you are selling new stuff!

I'm taking a university class that requires this book. I've been working with the Adobe suite for almost 10 years now, and if I didn't already have that experience, I'm not sure I would've survived or understood anything out of the text. This book is confusing. It's unclear. It has atrocious, outdated examples. Do yourself a favor and check out some Lynda.com videos instead. At least there you'll actually get a visual representation of how these programs work instead of a vague textbook approximation.

I'm just finishing up my yoga teacher training, and I picked up this book on my own. It covered a lot of ground that YTTs do not - the practical side of the yoga teaching business, how to be true to yourself as a teacher and use your genuine personality and interests to best market yourself, and even justification via yoga literature for getting paid to share yoga with others. It's a quick read, but I expect I will refer to it often. And someday, if I ever offer or are a part of a YTT course, I will definitely include this book!

Very useful information and advice from Amy Ippoliti and Taro Smith on how to become a yoga teacher, build and run a successful yoga business and be a professional teacher. They generously share practical examples and knowledge gained from teaching yoga, leading teacher trainings and asking students what they like and dislike in yoga classes (“anything that starts with the word just”). From what should be in your “teacher container” to navigating social media to teaching multiple ability levels in a class, this is an invaluable must read for all yoga teachers.

Thank you, thank you, thank you Amy and Taro for writing and sharing this book! It was a very helpful read. I could not put it down! It was very helpful to affirm the things I am doing right to serve my teaching practice as well as to shed light on areas that need improvement. Honest, to the point, outstandingly informative, and highly recommended. My only regret is that I did not read this book three years ago when I began teaching and sharing yoga with others.

I had the pleasure of taking class with Amy in person a few years ago. She's one of the most genuine people you'll ever meet. This is why I wanted to buy her book and find out how she runs such a successful business. As a yoga teacher, I've already used several of her business tips and they worked immediately! She has some very creative ideas and smart business strategies. Wonderful book every yoga teacher should read. Thank you, Amy.

I just finished this book and am happy to have read it. I found the content useful and easy to read and will implement much of it to grow my yoga "business" from now on. I enjoyed the section on Teaching Well and class preparation as well as the survey data from yoga students on how they perceive certain language and teaching styles. I am sure to use this book a lot in the future.

I have been teaching yoga since 2003 and found quite a bit in this book to be useful information, a different perspective on things and/or things to ponder. I recommend checking it out if you're a yoga teacher. It's an easy, clear read. And the type of book that you can integrate what you think will be useful into what you are already doing. I have already started using some of the suggestions and think it will shift things more positively for me.

Easy to read. Lots of good basic information.Bought it in Kindle, then realized there was a lot I wanted to highlight, so I bought another hard copy.

This book should be included in EVERY teacher training. So practical, and a very easy read. Finished it in 3 days, and plan on reading it again once I get it back from the list of people it is out on loan to.

The first six weeks of studying for the CPA I felt burned out and unmotivated. When I logged on to Amazon I was hoping for a miracle. I was hoping to find something the will help me overcome the fatigue. I wanted to get the CPA out of the way on the first try, and to never have to look at the CPA books again. Between this book and the CD, I regained my motivation. I kept listening to the CD every time I was too tired to study. It made me get up few times at 1 am and read another chapter, and that's motivation! I have never done anything as demanding as a CPA exam, nor did I ever feel happier when I got my results. The book covers the benefits of the CPA, why you should study, how and when, as well as it tells you everything you need to know about the exam. It's right on the mark, trust me, I was there! Good Luck! And thank you Amazon, I would have never had time to go shopping!

If you are considering sitting for the CPA exam, I strongly encourage you to read this book. Debra Hopkins provides incredible insight and guidance to help you reach your goal of passing the CPA exam. She outlines exam strategies for preparing and sitting for each of the four sections. She also discusses the main reasons why the pass rate for a first time test taker is so low and how you can overcome the odds and pass the first time. This book helped me pass the November 2003 CPA exam.Keep in mind that the November 2003 CPA exam was the last paper and pencil CPA exam. In the future, the exam will be computerized. Even though some of the information in this book (the 2000 edition) is no longer applicable because of the change, I still recommend this book.

WOW! I wasn't even planning on taking the CPA exam. I saw the book in a bookstore and started to read it. I ended up buying it and finished it the first day! It was so motivating and really made the CPA less intimidating. I am now planning to take the November 2001 exam and I'm hyped up! I'm reading it again for the second time and am recommending it to all my friends and co-workers planning to take the grueling two-day exam. Don't give up and you can pass!

I will be sitting for the November Exam, and I think that the practical advice Ms. Hopkins offers will definately help. I went from overwhelmed to feeling as if I can prepare to pass this exam. The CD that comes with it is definately worth listening to.
